Viewing additional objects with arx-files?

Postby Peter » 06 Nov 2005, 18:02

We use "VPraster" from http://www.softelec.com. That's a software to import and edit raster files (tif, bmp, jpg, ..) in AutoCAD. The raster data is stored in the dwg-file, included in some dictionaries. To display this so called "hybrid data" in a standard AutoCAD, you have download and install the free software "RasterDWG Drivers" from Softelec - Support - Drivers.

What to you think about an integration of this arx-function into your viewer? To you think it is possible or not?

Hello Peter,

Unfortunately we have no experience with arx functionality for the moment.

Could you please describe your tasks in detail? May be we'd implement them bypassing arx.

Sergey.

Because I am an user and not a developer I can not describe the functionality exactly, but you can test it for your own.

- Go to http://www.softelec.com
- go to support - utilities/drivers - RasterDWG for AutoCAD/RasterDWG Drivers
- read information and load the driver you need (it is freeware)
- test it with Autocad (I will send you a test-file tomorrow with e-mail)

Maybe you will contact the company and they are also interested in an integration of the function?

Hello Peter,

As far as we understand this task, it goes converting of raster image to vector format. Currently we can just use raster image as a background for a vector file.

We will take into account your advise accordingly to contacts with http://www.softelec.com.

Sergey.

No. To my mind it stores and handles the raster information with dictionaries inside the drawing. The free rasterdwg-driver enables AutoCAD to displayed the dictionary-saved raster pictures.

Hello

something new?

I think a first step to improve the situation would be an information which appears in the lister-windows.

Pseudocode:
Code: Select all
IF exist "RASTERDWG-dictionary"
then display message: "Attention - Special embedded raster images are not displayed"

Regards

Peter

The problem can't be solved "on fly". It requires serious researches. We will inform you when results are ready.
